1. What is a grade?
We know that air freight rates for general cargo are usually divided into M, N, and Q grades, of which Q grades are further divided into 45, 100, 300, 500, 1000 and other different grades - the higher the weight, the cheaper the rate.
Dependency level means that when the freight of a batch of goods is calculated according to the rates of different weight classes, if the freight calculated by the higher level weight is lower than the freight calculated by the "actual" weight, the lowest level of the higher level will be used. The weight and its rate calculate shipping.
2. How to calculate the dependant level?
If 45—10 yuan/kg; 100—9 yuan/kg; 300—8 yuan/kg…
I have a shipment and the actual billed weight is 98kg. but:
Shipping cost calculated with "actual" weight (98kg) and its rate (10 yuan/kg) = 98kgx10 = 980 yuan.
Because 98kg is very close to 100, we try to use "advance class" (100kg) and its rate (9 yuan/kg).
Obviously, the shipping cost of 900 yuan calculated by "reliable grade" is lower than the 980 yuan calculated by "actual" weight and its rate - it can be seen that "reliable grade" freight is cheaper. Therefore, under the circumstance that the airline allows "reliance on class", this shipment can be "reliant on class" - only 900 yuan needs to be paid to the airline. If the airline stipulates that it is not allowed to rely on the class, then there is no way to do it. You can only pay the airline 980 yuan according to the "actual" weight class.
3. When should I be graded?
When both conditions are met at the same time, it should be graded. First, it is more cost-effective to rely on the class; second, the airline allows the class. Two conditions are indispensable.
First, whether it is cost-effective to rely on grades can only be known after calculation and comparison. When airlines allow class by class, and the billing weight is closer to a higher weight class, it is best to calculate it, in case the class is cheaper, it is the class.
Second, not all airlines accept dependant grades.
4. How do you say the grades in English?
How to explain this concept clearly in English with foreigners?
For example, in the above example, we can say: According to 45 rate, total freight is 98kg*10=980yuan; According to 100 rate, total freight is 100kg*9=900yuan; the Airlines accepts the second one, so the freight is 900yuan. Of course, this is just an "explanation", and the expression is not necessarily accurate, let alone "authentic" or "beautiful", but what's the harm? As long as foreigners can understand it, it's OK.
